About this course

Seafarers holding an existing PSCRB qualification are required to complete this updated proficiency training course every five years to maintain proficiency under the STCW 2010 Manila Amendments (STCW Section A-VI/2).

This is a one-day course comprising theory and practical sessions, both in the classroom and at our pier head facility. Attendees are required to be fit enough to undertake practical drills in handling inflatable rescue boats, lifeboats and life rafts.

For further information on updated training, download MSN 1865, and see also MIN 535

Prerequisites

You must provide evidence of having completed the full Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than fast rescue boats) training course or accepted equivalent as listed in MIN 535 (pages 2 and 4).

Please note: Delegates who hold a certificate of Competency (Yacht) with Davit Launched Lifeboat Restrictions or who have only completed the Advanced Sea Survival for Yachtsmen/Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than fast rescue boats) (Restricted) may attend the course, but, as per MCA requirements (MIN 533), will be issued with an Updated Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than fast rescue boats) (Restricted) certificate on successful course completion.

Guidance for delegates who are pregnant and wish to undertake training:

Delegates who are or think they may be pregnant and wish to undertake training should contact the WMS Short Course Sales Team before booking the course to obtain guidance regarding the additional documentary pre-requisite requirements.
