About this course

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with an understanding of how escape chutes are used as a means of tertiary escape from offshore installations and vessels, and to provide basic training in the use of a typical escape chute used offshore.

Training takes place over two hours, including time spent in a classroom and undertaking practical activities on the pier at the Warsash campus. Delegates will receive both theoretical instruction and practical demonstration of the safe means of descent using an escape chute before being required to undertake a minimum of two descents of the WMS escape chute to demonstrate competency

The course meets the requirements of OPITO product specification 5770.

What you'll learn

The course will enable delegates to:

  • Gain an awareness of the various types of escape chutes used on offshore installations and vessels.
  • Have theoretical and practical training in the safe techniques for escaping through an escape chute.
  • Understand what is required when exiting an escape chute.

Prerequisites

Delegates must provide a medical declaration.
