About this course

This two-day course is an introductory safety training programme aimed at providing awareness of the major accident hazards, workplace hazards and associated controls found on offshore installations.

In addition to the BOSIET training requirements, many offshore oil and gas operators in the world have now made this training mandatory for all new entrants to the oil and gas industry.

A MIST course can be taken prior to or after the BOSIET course, and therefore caters for personnel who may already have a BOSIET but haven't been offshore.

The programme is designed to introduce the fundamental safety elements of the offshore oil and gas industry to new starts, giving an appreciation of the potential hazards and controls that might be encountered by personnel offshore.

What you'll learn

Each module within MIST has been designed to focus students' attention on their personal responsibility for safety thus influencing behaviour and attitude towards co-workers, the installation and the environment.

The course consists of five modules:

  • Major accident hazards
  • Workplace hazards and personal safety
  • Risk management
  • Control of work
  • Helicopter safety

The combined training programme is fully approved by OPITO with supporting certification and accredited to the Vantage database on successful completion.

You will be eligible to receive a 10% discount against the cost of a MIST course when purchased at the same time as BOSIET and Escape Chute Training, BOSIET with CA-EBS and Escape Chute Training, FOET with EBS and Escape Chute Training, or FOET with CA-EBS and Escape Chute Training. Please email wms.shortcoursesales@solent.ac.uk to request a one-time discount code before you book online.
